What are skin tags?
The medical term for a skin tag is “acrochordon”, it is a small growth of tissue that is flesh coloured, frequently they are only a few millimetres in size they have been known to get
over 4cms. However, they are harmless and look a bit like a wart. They are thought to develop due to rubbing or chaffing of clothes or skin, and usually in older people or those who are
overweight. Usually found on the neck or chest, under the armpits or breasts, or in the groin area. They are not malignant, more unsightly and can be uncomfortable or become irritated if
clothing or jewellery rubs against them.
In more conspicuous areas they can be a source of embarrassment or concern, but they are very easily removed
How are skin tags removed?
There are products available that can remove them by drying them out over a long period
of time, but we use a very simple piece of equipment with no chemicals, the process is very quick and its an instant method to rid you of skin tags. All very easy, we use a local
anesthetic, or an ice cube to numb the skin tags if you prefer and remove them with a hand held cautery machine.
